Welcome to Ely Youth Choir

For the next generation of choral singers

Ely Youth Choir is a community choir for 13-18 year olds. It was set up in 2010 by Ely Choral Society so, that the next generation of choral singers can access high quality training in an after-school setting and experience the fun and excitement of singing in a group. The choir takes part in concerts, some with Ely Choral Society and some on their own. There are no auditions and, currently, no fees.

The repertory is kept broad, including classical, chart, folk and musical theatre, to give young singers exposure to a wide range of music styles. The group is informal, friendly and focused on learning and performing.

Recent concerts have included performances of Bernstein Chichester Psalms, Vivaldi Gloria, High School Musical medley & Grease medley, all highly praised by knowledgeable reviewers and listeners.

Among the seven performances scheduled for the choir 2011-12 are two Ely Choral Society concerts, The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert in Ely Cathedral in June 2012 and the East Anglia Regional Festival of Music for Youth in the spring term of 2012.

Ely Youth Choir is conducted by Andrew Parnell, Musical Director of Ely Choral Society, and managed by a steering group of current and former Trustees of the Society. Chair: Lis Every. Administrator: Sylvia Bulley. Publicity: Jonathan Rogers.
